Disclaimer: I am the Online Outreach Director for SNAPPAC
Students for a New American Politics PAC is a student organization founded at Yale University in the aftermath of the 2004 election. The lesson that emerged from those disappointing results was that the only way to bring about a progressive majority would be to actively involve a new generation of voters to fundamentally change the political landscape in America. With the goal of critically engaging students in the emergence of a progressive majority, SNAPPAC began in the spring of 2005 as a politically action committee focused on providing financial assistance for students to actively work on progressive campaigns across the country. This effort not only helps cash-strapped campaigns by providing critical and talented campaign staff, but also allows students to gain the experience necessary to run future progressive campaigns.
Apparently Rep. Loebseack is set to endorse Obama today. He was a surprise democratic victor in Iowa's 2nd district during 2006 over awful republican John Leach in Iowa.

So now the 3 congressional endorsements are split, which is good news for all the candidates. I think Obama's best Edwards in Clinton in terms of legislative endorsements in light of what kind of representative Mr. Loebsack is. He's a liberal hero in Iowa for his victory in 2006 and he helps reinforce Obama's change rhetoric in that he's part of the wave of freshman that came last year on a mandate based on radical change. Interestingly enough, the 3 congressional endorsements for democrats in Iowa follow this same pattern. Braley is sort of an old guard progressive who relishes fights between the left and right and believes that's the way one affects change. Boswell is the conservative veteran with lots of traditional experience. All in all, I think these endorsements simply reinforce the themes the candidates are pursuing, but maybe Obama can leave rage this endorsement in order to prevent Clinton from running away with this news cycle.
A new ARG poll of three of the first four primary/caucus events shows suprises on both the democratic and republican sides. Of course, this is ARG and the numbers should be subject to some scrutiny as ARG has been consistenly and outlier pollster this cycle.

Pollster.com is out with analysis suggesting that by the fall of 2008, 25% of voters will only have mobiles, possibly making it more difficult to get accurate polling data. I was really surprised by the statistic that the number of cell phone only americans is increasing by over 20% every six months! If I decide not to study for my exam tomorrow I'll update with more in depth analysis. Until then, enjoy!
